When people want to lose weight, I always ask them how old are they. Then I explain to them that it took them their whole life to get overweight. It just didn’t happen overnight.

They made bad choice after bad choice over a lifetime to get there. They probably gained a few pounds a year and after 10 or 20 years they’re 30 to 60 pounds overweight. So what makes them think that they’re going to lose it overnight?

Another really important thing to keep in mind is that habits don’t happen overnight. It takes a long long time to build up good and bad habits. And once you lose the weight, you’re going to need good eating habits that will keep it off. That too takes time.

First build the good habits (which takes time) and the weight will slowly disappear (which takes time). You’re going to be 10 years older someday. You might as well be 30 lbs lighter in the process.
